Global and National Recognition

Arushi Nishank, an environmentalist, social activist, Kathak dancer, and filmmaker, has cemented her place as a force to be reckoned with in various fields. The daughter of Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, Arushi has received numerous awards and accolades for her work in cleaning and saving the river Ganga, promoting environmental awareness, and social reforms.

Inspired by her father’s work, Arushi has made a name for herself in culture, dance, cinema, and environment. She is a global icon for her Kathak performances and has been recognized worldwide for her contributions. Arushi has been an active promoter of her father’s “Sparsh Ganga Campaign,” which aims to create awareness among people to save and clean Ganga. Volunteers of the campaign have been recognized as “Ganga Heroes” by the Government of India.

In addition to her work towards Ganga conservation, Arushi has been an active promoter of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,” a government initiative to save girl children. She has been raising awareness about the importance of river Ganga and its cleanliness through her Clean Ganga Initiative Kathak performance “Ganga Tujhe Salam.” In 2016, she performed Ganga Avatran in Dubai, Varanasi, Lucknow, and Kanpur, winning the hearts of many audiences.

Arushi’s distinguished achievements have earned her numerous accolades, including being ranked in the international magazine “Forbes Middle East” in 2018, becoming the first person from Uttarakhand to feature in Forbes magazine. She won the Champions of Change Award 2019 for her Sparsh Ganga initiative under the transformation of the Aspirational District Program, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2019.

Arushi’s work towards river Ganga conservation has also been recognized internationally. She has received the Top 20 Global Women Award in Chicago from the US Congressman for her work towards Ganga conservation and promotion, climate change education, and girl child promotion in Green India. She has also been selected as the ‘Earth Day Network Star’ for 2020 by Earth Day Network, an organization that organizes ‘Earth Day.’

Arushi’s efforts in promoting environmental awareness have earned her the Global Water Woman Entrepreneur Award-2020 by the Energy and Environment Foundation, presented to her by Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne, and Water Resources Minister Keith Peet at a function held in Delhi.

Arushi’s social work and activism extend beyond environmental conservation. She has chaired the International Women Empowerment Programme (IWEP) in Dubai and the International Women Empowerment Summit and Awards 2019 in New Delhi, in association with the Women and Child Ministry of India, the Sanitation Ministry of India, and the United Nations. Her contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including the Youth Icon Award (Dubai), Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman, Bharat Gaurav Samman, Half Population Achievement Award, and Atal Maharshi Shikhar Samman.

Arushi’s accomplishments have made her a prominent figure and a source of inspiration for many. In 2022, she received the Global Inspirational Award on Naya Bharat Mahotsav 2022, an award for excellence across all sectors held in the House of Commons, London Parliament, United Kingdom, on the 9th of September 2022. In 2023, she has once again received the Earth Network Day Star Award for her social work and activism. She has been awarded the “Fresh Face of Bollywood” 2023, in Dubai at Global Inspirational awards and also became the “Black Swan Sustainability Champion of the Year” in 2024.
